Vet-owned junk removal business opens in Alabaster – Shelby County Reporter

Anthony Boyd served 10 years as an infantryman in the US Army, including two business trips to Iraq. He now owns and operates JDog Junk Removal & Hauling from Alabaster, which opened on December 14th.

Boyd’s wife, Blake, also served as a combat surgeon in the army. With much prayer and thought, the couple decided to venture into the business world.

“We’re both very proud of our (military) service and very proud to serve our community,” said Boyd.

The full-service garbage disposal company serves the Central Alabama region and both private and business customers. The Alabaster-based company is a franchise of a larger corporation whose local business owners are primarily veterans or family members of veterans or military personnel.

JDog’s services include residential and commercial waste disposal, labor, real estate agent services, and more. This includes demolition for renovation projects, furniture assembly, packing storage containers, moving equipment and furniture around your home, loading a moving truck, cleaning up the yard, and even assembling and removing swings.

The benefit of the environment through waste disposal is another high priority for JDog. Boyd estimated that approximately 80 percent of the items JDog takes away are donated to local charities.

“If it’s furniture that we know someone can use, we want to make sure it goes into a good home,” he said.

The only items that can’t be picked up are things that can’t be neutralized, like hazardous materials, added Boyd.

To contact JDog or to arrange a pickup, call the local number at 205-223-0612, the national line at 844-GET-JDOG, visit the website or check out their Facebook or Instagram Profiles.

“We come out with the best of intentions and bring you the hassle-free experience at the best possible price for what you want to do,” said Boyd. “If you enjoy bringing local veterans to work, we are your boys.”
