Trash truck caused I-94 shutdown

An articulated lorry hauling rubbish out of Canada was responsible for closing the westbound lanes of I-94 near Ravenswood Road yesterday morning. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the truck heard a blown tire and slowed down when he noticed smoke and fire from the right side of the trailer. He separated the trailer and was able to pull forward a safe distance. Firefighters from the townships of Kimball, Port Huron and Clyde helped put out the fire. No injuries have been reported and it is unknown why the trailer caught fire. I-94 to the west was closed around 4 and 8 a.m. yesterday morning.
