Suspect in assaults on deputy, women caught hiding in attic
The Jackson County Sheriff’s office on Sunday arrested a man they had been looking for since July.
Kenneth Joe Bishop, 32, of Flat Rock, has been charged with two assaults, two attempts to escape, obtaining stolen property, possession of controlled substances – methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal offenses, attempted use, reckless endangerment and failure to appear in court, and suspended parole a trade in methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.
The bond has not yet been fixed for all fees.
The sheriff’s office said members of the patrol division received information on Sunday about the possible whereabouts of Bishop, who has been evading arrest for several months. He is believed to have been in a house on 497 County Road in Flat Rock.
Bishop had numerous pending arrest warrants resulting from a vehicle chase on July 17 in which the sheriff’s office said he attacked a MP to avoid arrest. The office said at the time that Bishop was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
In addition, the sheriff’s office said Biship attacked a woman in the Flat Rock area on October 24 and is a suspect in another attack on a woman there.
When MPs arrived at the Flat Rock residence on Sunday, they found a stolen vehicle believed to be in the possession of Bishop.
The sheriff’s office said residents of the house did not initially allow MPs to search for Bishop, but later allowed them to look inside.
The MPs found him in the attic and arrested him.
Three people were also arrested at the residence:
Jess Allison, 19, of Flat Rock, was charged with possession of controlled substance methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Flat Rock, 24-year-old Sheena Haggard has been charged with obstruction of justice.
William Haggard, 23, of Higdon has been charged with obstruction of justice.
