Semi truck burned to a crisp after pickup loses mattress

Texas police say an unsecured mattress was responsible for a fire that destroyed a semi-trailer truck on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Edinburgh, Texas.

Police say a pickup truck driving north on 281 lost a mattress it was carrying. The mattress flew on the road and drove under a semi-trailer truck that was also heading north on 281.

The mattress caught fire, which in turn caused the truck to catch fire.

The truck driver was able to get out of the vehicle in time and was not injured.

Pictures taken on site show that the truck was completely destroyed by the fire.

Local news agency KRGV reports that the pickup driver left the scene before the police arrived.

The incident is still being investigated.
