Samurai sword, mattress and more stolen from Montclair home

A samurai sword, gold mirror, twin-size mattress and more have been stolen from a Summit Avenue residence in recent months, police said.
On June 3, Montclair residents reported that police said several items had disappeared from their home in various locations over the past few months.
The missing items also included four crystal wedding glasses, two Cuisinart hand mixers, and various bedding items.
The following additional activities were reported by the Montclair Police in their weekly blotter:
Saturday June 5 – Officials responded in the Club Street and Valley Road area after a Montclair resident reported watching four men get into his vehicle parked in his driveway. The officers found four men who matched the resident’s description and left the scene. While watching the officers, the men fled on foot in different directions.
Two 17-year-old Newark males were arrested on Valley Road. A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old teenage man from Newark were hidden behind an apartment building on Bellaire Drive. All of these juveniles were charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. The 15-year-old man also had proceeds belonging to a resident of Valley Road. Officials checked with this resident, who found that his vehicle had also been entered and items removed. The 15-year-old was also charged with possession of stolen property.
One of the 17-year-old men had a key to a Mazda. This key was later found to belong to the vehicle that was reported stolen on Brookfield Road earlier in the day. The 17-year-old youth was also charged with theft. All young people were handed over to their guardians.
Saturday June 5 – A gray 2021 Mazda CX9 was reported stolen from a local resident’s driveway on Brookfield Road during the night hours. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside. It was parked and recovered unoccupied in Newark later that day.
Saturday, June 5 – A woman reported that she parked her vehicle on Gates Avenue with the rear windows down. When she returned there, she found that her glove box was open and some documents were missing.
Monday June 7 – A rideshare driver reported picking up a passenger on Maple Avenue and driving to Elmwood Avenue in East Orange. After the customer exited the vehicle, the driver received notifications that their credit cards were in use. Then he discovered that his wallet was missing.
Disregard of the court
Saturday June 5 – A 24-year-old Orange man was charged with disobeying the court after officers discovered pending arrest warrants from Bloomfield while hitchhiking on Gordonhurst Avenue.
