The Allman Betts Band continues the legacy of the Allman Brothers Band, and on Saturday September 19, the group restored the Brothers’ annual tradition of the Peach Music Festival with a live performance at the Circle Drive-In Theater in Dickson City.
Led by Devon Allman, son of the founder and singer of the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, and Duane Betts, son of the founder of ABB guitarist and singer Dickey Betts, the Allman Betts Band was set to return to the Pavilion on Montage Mountain in Scranton , just 15 miles away Before the Peach Fest was postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, they swung on their Bless Your Heart Autumn Drive-In tour in support of their new album “Bless Dein Herz.”
“I think we definitely challenged ourselves, developed ourselves artistically and expanded the spectrum on all levels. We wanted something that was a bit broader. A deeper experience, ”said Betts of the album.
“I hope what people hear on ‘Bless Your Heart’ is a band that has a love affair with a band,” added Allman.
The band played songs from both this and their 2019 debut “Down to the River” as well as ABB classics to prove that their abilities live up to their namesake. The Carbondale Blues Rock Trio Static in the attic opened the show with an impressive musicality of their own.
“Felt so good to be back in the saddle! Thank you to the fine folks in Butler, PA; Auburn, NY; and Scranton, PA for a fantastic weekend. We could definitely feel the love, ”the band posted two days later on social media and has since shared several photos from NEPA Scene.
“Thanks also to the incredible crews who took their asses off their asses all day to make the shows possible, as well as to the organizers and venues that host us. I can’t wait to play some more music for you guys to come next month. “
The band currently has drive-in and outdoor shows scheduled through November 1st.
