Neighbor rouses Cambria woman as attic burns | News, Sports, Jobs

CAMBRIA – Courtland firefighter Wayne Thorson was awakened by a house fire last Friday night. At first he thought it was his own residence before making sure a neighbor’s safety exited their burning house around 9:30 p.m.

Courtland Fire Chief Dave Ubel said Thorson knocked on Lavon Regnier’s door at 219 West View Street to make sure she got out of her home while an attic fire burned a hole in her roof.

“Wayne said he saw flames coming through the roof of the house” said Ubel. “The whole roof needs to be replaced. The house suffered significant water damage. “

Ubel said the Minnesota State Fire Marshall determined that the cause of the fire was electrical.

Courtland firefighters were hired by the Lake Crystal Fire Department, the Blue Earth and Nicollet County’s Sheriff’s Office, and the North Mankato Fire Dept. Air Truck. supported.

Ubel said his firefighters were on duty until 12:13 a.m. on Saturday.

Regnier was grateful for the response from firefighters, friends and neighbors to the fire.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all the firefighters for saving my old photos and the best wishes of all my neighbors and friends.” Said Regnier. “The firefighters were so great to get my photos.”
