National Grid will give you money as part of appliance recycling program

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) The National Grid Residential Appliance Recycling Program was launched on May 15, 2019 in Upstate, NY.

This program offers private customers an incentive to recycle their old refrigerator, freezer and window air conditioners. This helps them save energy by getting rid of those older, less efficient devices.

Customers can hand in a maximum of two fridges / freezers and two window air conditioners per year. Fridge / freezers typically have a discount of $ 50 (up to $ 100 per year), but air conditioners do not. Air conditioning systems are picked up as a value-added service.


National Grid is running a special this fall, increasing discounts to $ 100 (up to $ 200) per customer for the months of September and October. In order to be able to use this offer, customers must from 01.09. Until October 31 Call (or register online). The units must be picked up by November 30th. (It usually takes 3 to 4 weeks for discounts to reach customers’ mailboxes.)
