Mattress Discounter SleepPittsburgh Donating Back to Local Charity to Fight Hunger

Mattress Company sponsors the Blues Festival and starts the hunger campaign

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) July 9, 2015

Pittsburgh’s oldest mattress store, SleepPittsburgh announced today that sponsorship of the 2015 Pittsburgh Blues Festival coincides with the annual fundraiser for the local community. To fight hunger, the company is donating 5 percent of related purchases to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank by Labor Day.

“It’s the people in our communities who have been running our business for 70 years. We believe in giving back and there is no better way than fighting hunger in our area,” said Vincent Snyder, owner of SleepPittsburgh .

The Pittsburgh Blues Festival is the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank’s largest annual event, raising over $ 2 million to help fight hunger over the past 20 years. The festival takes place July 24-26 in Hartwood Acres. The event includes a full range of national and local blues music, food and merchandise vendors, as well as a KidZone. Tickets are available here or at

“Most people don’t know that one in seven people in Pennsylvania is starving. The food bank here feeds more than two million people annually, many of whom are elderly or children,” Snyder said.

Customers just have to mention the grocery bank or festival and SleepPittsburgh donates 5 percent of their purchase to the grocery bank. It will also honor guaranteed lowest prices with free shipping, free setup and free mattress removal for its customers. “This is a great community event. We believe in supporting local charities and giving back to our communities,” said Snyder.

The business has locations in Homestead and the North Hills. 70 models are exhibited and represent a whole range of mattress sleeping areas. It carries top brands such as Serta, iComfort, iSeries, Sealy, Beautyrest, Tempurpedic and Spring Air. It offers a complete complement to the sleeping areas of innerspring,

Latex, air adjustable, memory foam, gel memory foam, adjustable beds and hybrid mattresses. It also carries bunk beds, day beds, futons, and children’s furniture.

SleepPittsburgh, formerly American Buyer’s Discount Mattress, has been operating in Pittsburgh for 70 years. A rebranding campaign was launched last month that changed its name to SleepPittsburgh to better reflect the company’s historic relationship with the local community.

“We wanted a name that would reflect our history in the Pittsburgh area, live up to our belief in the hometown spirit, and showcase our full range of products,” said Snyder. The campaign includes television and radio advertising, new signage, a new logo and the recent launch of the modern website

“The major national chain stores and retail stores do not give you any service or price guarantees,” said Snyder. In addition to the general public, SleepPittsburgh serves more than 30 social services and is well known for its various loyalty programs, including student discounts.
