Stalwart Communications, a public relations and marketing agency in San Diego, has been selected as the agency for Jerome’s Furniture, according to David Oates, Stalwart’s president.

Stalwart said it will showcase the retailer’s value proposition in local, retail and furniture industries, as well as offering media outreach services and media training workshops.
Founded in 1954, Jerome’s Furniture is a third generation family business with 13 retail locations. Jerome’s is considered San Diego’s largest home furnishings advertiser. Jerome’s offers free design services, furniture removal services, and reality software to help customers achieve their best look.
“We look forward to using our experience in the domestic industry to advance your media work and provide media training for your team,” said Oates. “There are many stories to tell and we are delighted to be working with such a renowned company.” Stalwart Communications was founded in November 2009.
Alternative strategies expand the workforce
Alternative Strategies of San Diego has added two new team members, Paige Nordeen and Casey Sorrell. Both have the title of Media Relations Manager.
Nordeen, who has experience in the hospitality, food and beverage, and consumer products sectors, previously served with Alternative Strategies clients including The Verant Group, Bracero Cocina and The Ranch at Bandy Canyon. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from San Diego State University.
Sorrell has worked in the hospitality industry, including with the Rise + Shine Restaurant Group and the OMG Hospitality Group. She also has experience with regional and national media placements for cosmetics clients and consumer technology brands. She has a degree in communication from SDSU.
Alternative Strategies, with offices in North Park, specializes in public relations and social media for the 16th year of its existence. Since 2000, the agency has grown to more than 40 customers from the catering and hospitality industry.
Direct marketer to study business growth
SD Direct, formerly the San Diego Direct Marketing Association, will host “Seven Keys to Building a Scalable Business,” a program to build and operate a scalable business that deals with services, memberships, or communities 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday 20th September, at the UCSD Extension, Room 317, 6256 Greenwich Drive, San Diego.
Topics include how to stay focused and identify your pain reliever tribe during tough times, what it takes to build a business, move from selling to leadership, and the importance of vulnerability. Speaking is Felena Hanson, Marketing Strategy Consultant and author of Flight Club: Rebel, Reinvent and Thrive, a book about starting your dream business.
