Henderson trash collection schedules altered for Christmas, New Year’s Day

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) Garbage collection, recycling pick-up and landfill services operate on a different schedule during the weeks of Christmas and New Years.

City officials will be watching the Christmas holidays on December 24th and 25th. The residential garbage collection schedule this week is as follows:

  • December 21: Regular Monday and Tuesday routes.
  • December 22nd: Wednesday and Thursday route south of Second Street to Dixon, Martin Luther King and O’Byrne and east of Water Street to Atkinson Street.
  • December 23: Rest of the Thursday route and the entire Friday route.
  • December 24th and 25th: No collection; The landfill is closed and will reopen at 7 a.m. on December 26th.

The garbage collection starts at 6 a.m.

During the New Year, the city’s employees will observe the holiday on January 1st. The rubbish collection schedule this week is:

  • December 28th: ​​Normal assembly routes.
  • December 29th: Normal Tuesday routes.
  • December 30th: Normal Wednesday routes.
  • December 31: All routes on Thursday and Friday.
  • January 1: No collection; Landfill closed.

The landfill / transfer station will be closed on January 1st and reopened on January 2nd at 7 a.m.

The recycling collection takes place on January 2nd.
