Eve Topper vs Panda Topper: which mattress topper works the most magic?

When your old mattress is no longer providing you with the support and comfort you need and you are literally losing sleep at night, it is tempting to just get a new one. However, adding the right mattress topper can make all the difference and add a year to the life of your mattress for significantly less than you would pay for a new mattress. Which one should you choose?

To help you choose, we’ve put two of the best mattress toppers through a thorough review to see which is best. We’re looking at the Eve Topper, a premium option from one of our favorite mattress companies, and the Panda Topper from a company that doesn’t (yet) make mattresses but has impressed us with pillows and duvets. They’re both great toppers (read our Eve Mattress Topper Review and Panda Topper Review to find out all the details) but which one is right for you? Let’s find out.

Eve Topper vs Panda Topper: the basics

Eve is a UK based company that has been operating since 2014. The main business is mattresses. It sells foam and hybrid mattresses in three areas: Premium, Original and Lighter, but also sheets, bed frames and even sleeping gifts. Almost all mattresses are designed and manufactured in the UK.

Panda has been in the bedding business since 2015, specializing in the use of bamboo fabric, which is soft, antibacterial, hypoallergenic and thoroughly sustainable. We are big fans of the Panda Memory Foam Bamboo Cushion and the Panda Cloud Bamboo Blanket. It also makes bed linen, bath towels, and more.

Eve topper

The Eve Topper is 5 cm deep and consists of two layers of foam. The top layer is 2 cm deep and consists of the same comfort foam that you will find in Eves mattresses: It is CertiPUR-certified open-cell foam that is 30 times more breathable than conventional foam. Underneath there is a 3 cm thick reflex-based foam that offers you a lot of support. The shell of the Eve Topper has a soft polyester top and edge that can be removed for washing at 40 ° C, while the base is made of polypropylene. It has sturdy straps with Velcro fasteners that can be easily attached to your mattress.

Panda topper

The panda topper is also 5 cm deep, but only consists of one layer of foam. It uses hydro-foam to give you back, neck and hip support, and it contains gel microcapsules that respond to your body temperature and expand when the memory foam gets warm, keeping you cool and supported. The cover consists of a mixture of breathable bamboo fiber and polyester. The base is made of dotted silicone to hold the topper in place, as well as elastic bands on each corner. Like the Eve, the panda’s top cover can be removed and washed at 40 ° C.

Verdict: Eva wins

There is one big difference between these two toppers and that is the number of layers of foam. The Eve has two – a top layer for comfort and a thicker support layer underneath – while the Panda is made of memory foam at the very bottom. This is a win for Eva in our book.

Eve topper versus panda topper: comfort and strength

Eve and Panda make similar claims for their toppers: they both promise to give you comfort and support, and to keep you cool at night. In practice, they deliver very different sleep experiences. The Eve Topper is more on the firm side, maybe a little too firm for some, especially on the side rather than the back. However, we found it comfortable and supportive and had no issues with overheating.

The panda topper, on the other hand, is surprisingly soft; You sink right into 2 inches of memory foam and this can be a problem if you get warm at night. Despite its cooling technology, we had to take off the covers in mid-February, which tended to detract from its impressive comfort.

Verdict: Eva wins

Comfort is a subjective matter, but for us the Eva is the clear winner here. it feels a lot more substantial and doesn’t get too hot at night. However, if you prefer a softer sleeping surface and like it cozy, the panda will likely serve you better.

With the Eve Topper you will receive free, flexible delivery depending on the region. You also get a 30-night trial to make sure you keep going with your topper and free returns if they don’t meet expectations. Eve also offers a three-year guarantee. If something goes wrong, your topper will be exchanged for a new one.

The Panda Topper is pretty similar: free UK delivery and returns and a 30 night trial, but the big difference is that Panda comes with a 10 year warranty.

Verdict: Panda wins

There really isn’t much in it in terms of customer service. However, Panda takes this lap thanks to its 10 year warranty.

Eve is rated excellent on Trustpilot with over 7,500 reviews and 4.5 out of 5 stars. 84% of reviewers rate it excellent, while only 6% rate it poor. In our own Eve Topper review, we were appropriately impressed; We found that the two layers of foam make the difference and while it’s clearly an expensive option, it’s well worth the higher price tag, especially if you prefer a firmer sleeping surface.

Panda currently only has 158 Trustpilot reviews but is rated excellent with 4.3 stars. 78% of the reviewers found it excellent, 8% rated it bad. Things are a bit more inconsistent at Amazon: 4.7 out of 5 stars with 80% 5-star ratings. However, some reviewers call the topper because it is too soft and gets hot at night. Our results were similar; In our Panda Topper review, we were generally impressed with its quality, but found it a little too soft and tended to get warm.

Verdict: Eva wins

Not much separates the two, but public opinion and our own knowledge suggest that Eva is a slightly better choice.

Eve Topper vs. Panda Topper: Prize

The Eve Topper costs £ 199 for a British single, £ 239 for a small double, £ 249 for a British double, £ 279 for a British King, £ 309 for a Super King

The Panda Topper is £ 99.95 for a British single, £ 134.95 for a small double, £ 139.95 for a British double, £ 159.95 for a British King, £ 189.95 for a Super King

Verdict: Panda wins

With its single, which costs almost half the price of the Eve, and the rest of its sizes, which are considerably cheaper, the Panda Topper wins this one. Of course, with the Eve, you pay a premium for more complex constructions that offer better support, and if you buy at the right time, you should be able to get a discount on both toppers. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that Eva is the winner here. It’s not a completely fair comparison, however; The Eve is a much more expensive mattress topper than the Panda, and its two layers of foam give it a massive comfort benefit.

Both toppers will breathe new life into an old rope mattress and can even add an extra touch of luxury to a newer mattress, and both Eve and Panda offer excellent customer service. For us, however, it comes down to the question of strength. The Eve feels really supportive and has great cooling properties, while the Panda is one that you will sink into and that could make you too hot at night.

However, if you like a softer mattress, you will likely get acquainted with the panda and be happy to have spent a lot less. They’re really horses for classes, and don’t forget that you have 30 nights with both toppers to decide if they’re right for you. So there isn’t much of a risk depending on what you choose.
