PHOENIX – Two charities from the valley work together to provide furniture to young adults and families emerging from homelessness.

The Ronald McDonald House charities in central and northern Arizona are currently renovating the Roanoke House.

Instead of throwing away the used furniture and household items, the local nonprofit Dignity removes the items and uses the donation to help those in need get furniture for their apartments and houses.

“We are thrilled to be working with the Ronald McDonald House charities in central and northern Arizona to bring the softly used furniture to families in need,” said Joyce Petrowski, CEO of Furnishing Dignity, in a press release.

“We firmly believe that we can help people build lives where they are happy, self-sufficient and proud of their accomplishments by giving them a home.”

Furnishing Dignity anticipates an increased need for services given the recent economic impact.

The basic household items will help feed several young adults and needy families over the coming months, the organization said.
